You Won't Die Staying at the George V

Good news: The more you spend on holidays the less likely you are to die on one. The same is not true of women. They will kill you either way. The Economist’s Intelligent Life reports that since 9/11 only 11 luxury holiday makers have died. None died in Thailand’s recent Tsunami, it was mostly backpackers staying in bungalows near the beach. Spend on.

Bad News: London’s Evening Standard reports that all London underground stations will get mobile service making the tube now not only hot, sweaty, filthy and poorly managed but now loud and obnoxious as well -- only further proving that the best way to get around London is not by tube, bus or taxi, but by the affordable Addison Lee car service which is always cheaper than a black cab.

If this weekend you find yourself in..

NYC: Check out the premiere of season two of Entourage. Yes, it may be the male equivalent of Sex and the City but Turtle, Drama, Vince and Eric are the best things on TV. Jeremy Piven’s high strung twitching Ari alone is worth your time.

Long Island: Sail off to dinner at the waterside East Hampton Point. A perfect way to end the day.

Paris: Head to the George V on Saturday night for the Louis XVI ball. See royally from countries you didn’t know still existed come together, drink, and create new principalities. Odd are you won't be killed while your there. Just make sure you book a suite!
